Ringworm, unknown to many is not a worm or a parasite; it is instead a contagious fungal skin infection. Read on to know more about what does ringworm look like and what are its symptoms and available treatments are.
What Is Ringworm?
Ringworm is a microscopic fungus that infects only the outer layer of the skin. Ringworm does not go deep into the body as it cannot live on mucous membranes in the vagina or the mouth.

Ringworm thrives on moist and hot parts of the skin and more so into those areas that remain hidden from direct light. To know what does ringworm look like you can log on to the various sites that show pictures of patients of people affected with this skin infection.

Here is a brief insight into what does ringworm looks like:

■ Ringworm occurs as round or oval red scaly patches on the skin. The color of the patches can vary from being pink to deep red.
■ The patches have a scaly border and are less red and scaly in the middle. They at times also have a healed look in the middle.
■ The edge of the ring is lifted due to the fungus. This part is the reddest and most scaly part of the patch.
■ This part also contains the pus and the fluid. It besides being moist can also be dry, crusted and scaly.
■ The lesion starts to heal from the center to outwards. At times the person would also experience another ring arise inside the previous one.
■ The fungus comes up as a coin-sized ring that is about one and a half to one inch in diameter.
■ People who have been hit hard by the skin infection often complain of extreme itchiness and irritation.
■ Once a person gets attacked by the fungus he would soon notice several patches of ringworm on his skin all in one go.

Cure For Ringworm
One who is inflicted with the infection must ensure that he does not scratch the lesions because if he does so then the infection would spread at an even faster pace. The condition can easily be treated with over-the-counter anti-fungal creams. Another common treatment is using tea tree oil which is a natural anti-fungal antiseptic on the patches. Ringworm on the scalp and the face would require anti-fungal shampoos and even oral medication.

What Does Syphilis Look Like?


Syphilis is one of those diseases that everyone used to be scared of. It can be deadly if not cured properly and is extremely contagious.

The interesting thing about this disease is that even though it is extremely annoying and can lead to death, if treated early is very easy to cure. The problem is that it's hard to spot it at first as it's almost asymptomatic. No itching, no rashes (until later stages), no swelling, no nothing.

So, how do you spot it?

First of all, it is very important to know that syphilis is only transmitted through sexual contact. You can't get it from sharing food, a fork or clothes with someone who has it, so the best way to prevent it is through having a proper sex life. If your partner does not have syphilis, you won't get it.

If you do have incidental sex, just go see a doctor and he'll take care of the problem for you, but on with the spotting.


As I mentioned before, syphilis does not cause any discomfort at all in its early stages. Although you might see some lesions on the areas of contact (penis or vagina), they tend to heal spontaneously which is why people don't go see a doctor at this stage. In the second stage of syphilis, you'll be able to notice rashes on your feet or your hands. You may see the rash on the torso or your face.

In the last stage of syphilis you may see knots forming in the joints which look like big bumps under your skin.

Although we have talked a bit about prevention already, I would like to talk about the one thing that prevents Syphilis from spreading and even cures it completely.

That one thing, oddly enough is penicillin G also known as Benzylpenicillin. This medication is fairly common and really easy to administer, but it only works if you apply it in a very easy stage of the disease. Oftentimes, one dose is enough.

It really amazed me when I realized that such a simple drug can take care of this huge problem.

Moreover as long as you pay attention who you sleep with, you should be fine as well. Having a permanent sexual partner (like your husband or wife) is a tremendous prevention tool for syphilis.

What does measles look like





The First signs of measles see the appearance of small white spots on the inside cheeks of the mouth. These spots are around 1-2 mm wide (Koplik’s spots)

The measles rash starts after these spots disappear. The rash consists of separate pink/red lesions that start to join as the rash spreads. The spots are flat red areas to begin with, but then become raised

The red rash develops on the face and progresses to develop down the body on the legs and the arms.

What does a mole look like?



Everyone has a mole...Ok. This might be a little overstated, but they are really popular at least from what I can tell. It's kind of hard to describe what does a mole look like, but I am going ot try anyway, so here we go.

As we all know, moles are lesions. They grow on the skin. Most of them are a little pigmented so they are not instantly noticeable, but they can be pigment free as well which, obviously, makes them stand out a little more.

Although we mostly see them on people's faces, necks and hands, they can appear almost anywhere on the body. It's not uncommon to have one on your scalp, armpit or even your lips or underneath the fingernail.


In most cases, unless they are placed in a strange place, they are not dangerous to your health and will disappear after a few years. Research shows that they tend to stay for about 50 years and then they go away on their own.

You'll be able to recognize a mole when you see it pretty quickly. They tend to be small and a little oval in shape. In some cases they are circular. They don't usually hurt or itch, so we tend to ignore them for the most part unless we notice one in the mirror.

Treating moles.
Generally speaking, it's not important to treat moles as they are pretty harmless. The only problem is that they may be just ugly and you might not want to have them. I mean, not everyone appreciates a big, old pimple right in the middle of their chin or nose, right?

so, how do you treat moles?
There are actually very many ways you can kill a mole. You can go see a doctor and they'll help you out with selecting a solution that's good for you. Let me just name a few off the top of my head.

You can have your moles burnt out.
You can have them frozen off.
You can treat them with creams.
You can kill them with ointments.

You can really do a lot of things to get rid of a mole. The good thing is that in most cases, the solution to get rid of your mole is going to be an over-the-counter medication available to you very cheaply at your local drug store. If you have a lot of them concentrated in one area, then you might consider paying for a laser treatment or something similar.
