Poison Ivy belongs to the family of Anacardiaceae which is a plant. This plant produces usrushiol. Usrushiol is known for producing itchiness on skin and this itchiness is the sole reason of poison ivy rash. The technical name of this rash is Urushiol- Induced Contact Dermatitis. A person who has got poison ivy rash may develop inflammation which is red in colour, blistering and bums that are not having any colour. A person may feel like itchiness and when he scratches then, he may develop reddishness. The blisters secrete a fluid but this fluid is not harmful. The poison ivy rash is continued for four weeks if left untreated.
