The inside of your ear is probably one of the most concealed areas in your body. It's hard to look into it, and no, you're not going to be able to look into your own ear (just so you know!) That's why it's a little difficult to say whether you have an ear infection or something else, but let's talk about the looks first.
So, the question is what does an ear infection look like.
See, normally, the ear drum's shiny and flat, and if you flash the otoscope at it, it will reflect the light. The colors of it is usually a little pearly or yellow. When you suffer from an ear infection, the drum becomes red and a little raised. It kind of seems to be swollen when you look at it from the outside.
Sometimes, you'll be able to see some bubbles or liquid behind the drum which is also very common for an ear infection.
The cool thing about it is that it's a very common condition, so if you have it and go see a doctor, they won't have any problem whatsoever diagnosing it which can mean that they'll help you treat it better.
Apart from the swollen and red look, you'll also experience pain coming from the inside of your ear and maybe even a banging noise. You can also hear a noise similar to what you hear if you decide to put your head under water, relax and not move.
I am sure you know what I am talking about. That humming sound that water makes when it moves. It's pretty cool when you do it in a pool, but if you hear it all the time, it's not a good sign.
How to treat an ear infection?
There are many ways to help you deal with your ear infection. One of the coolest ones I've seen done was the "microwave salt" method. See, I am sure you know that salt absorbs moisture and liquid pretty well. That's why when you put salt into your salt shaker, you should also throw in a few seeds of raw rice so that it does not get lumpy.
That characteristic will help you drain the liquid from your ear. What you do is you throw some salt into the microwave for 3 minutes, maybe four. Just make sure it's warm and not too hot. Then, the next thing you have to do is put that salt into a sock or something like that so that you don't get burnt and just put that on the ear a few times a day.
Your ear will be fine and dandy before you know it.
