I am sure you’ve heard of plantar warts. They are those lesions that appear on someone’s feet and make it very hard for the person to walk. In most cases they are caused by HPV, but they only appear after the virus is fully incubated which can take up to 20 months. You won’t feel or see anything during the incubation process which makes it very hard for the wart to be detected early.
Alright, but what does a plantar wart look like actually?
The first thing I need to tell you is that they can differ greatly in appearance. Most of the time they are a little yellowish, brown or grey, and they tend to be smooth on the surface.
They usually appear in places where your foot presses against the ground or the inside of your shoe, so once you have them, it’s a real pain to even take a few steps. You will notice that most plantar warts are bumpy, a little hard and thick.
What’s also worth noticing is that they have little black spots inside them.
Why should you treat them?
We’ve talked a lot about What does a plantar wart look like, but that’s not enough. You need to know that if you don’t treat it properly, it’ll look much worse than described above. See, warts like that have a natural way to spread around the area, so before you know it, if you don’t take care of the problem right away, you’ll have whole areas of your foot covered with plantar warts.
How do you treat a plantar wart?
This one is a bit tough to answer because it depends on the person. Of course, as with most things, before you do anything you should take some time to talk to a professional that will help you deal with the problem, but in most cases you can get treatments at a local drug store that will help you out with killing the wart.
The problem is, though, that if your feet are very tough from walking and if the skin on them is really thick, then those treatments will most likely not work.
In such a case, what you should actually do is get them frozen or removed with a laser. Those are procedures performed by doctors that know what they are doing, and I would like to make sure that you understand that under no circumstances should you attempt to remove the wart yourself. People often try to cut the wart out with a razor, but what they don’t realize is that when they do, they get the infected blood all over themselves which causes more warts to appear.
I told you what does a plantar wart look like. I also mentioned a few tips that will help you take care of it. Use them with caution and you’ll be ok.
